James offers musical tuition on Mandolin, Guitar, Fiddle, and Bodhrán. James’ speciality is teaching ‘by ear’, which he believes is the natural way to learn to play folk music. Lessons are open to students of all abilities.
James has also been working in local schools (through Guernsey Museums and The Language Commission), talking about traditional music and teaching pupils songs in Guernesiais.
